KIA unveiled the Kia Cee’d facelift which will also be premiered at the Frankfurt auto show. The new Kia cee’d range will deliver a host of customer benefits including numerous exterior and interior design refinements, upgraded standard equipment and technical innovations. The cee’d also gets a fully-revised suspension set-up.
The changes will also significantly reduce fuel consumption and in the new ‘Intelligent Stop and Go’ ECO-dynamics version to be launched for the first time in the UK CO2 emissions are reduced to 110 g/km. On average emissions will be cut by five per cent across the cee’d line-up.
Technical innovations being introduced with new Kia cee’d will include fuel-stretching ISG technology on the 1.6-litre diesel engines for the first time, a “hill-holder” function for the ESP and brighter projection-style headlamps. The new ‘U2′ 1.6-litre diesel engine will be matched to a new six-speed manual transmission.
The ‘new look’ Kia cee’d range will make its world premiere on 15 September at Frankfurt’s International Motor Show. Full UK range details and pricing will be announced prior to the on-sale date.
In September 2007, I traded in my 2005, 2.2L Direct Inject, 2nd generation and thoroughly disappointing Opel Zafira for a new Kia 1.6L CRDI, EX-Komfort Ceed SW. Well, two years have gone by and I couldn’t be happier. Except for having 7 seats, which I used about three times, the overrated Zafira couldn’t hold a candle to the Ceed SW in any department.
The new 2010 Ceed Sw has some design changes and other technical upgrades, which sound very interesting. I’ll be finding out soon, as I recently ordered a new 2010 Ceed SW, 1.6L CRDI, Automatic. The reason I’m trading in the 2007 is that my wife just got her Iicense and is restricted to Automatic. The 2007 is excellent, the 115 HP CRDI 1.6L is a gem. Anyway, I’m looking forward to the new CRDI 1.6L “U2″, with more power, more torque and better economy. I doubt that I’ll be disappointed. I’ll find out in mid-October.
